Coinbase CEO Calls for Federal Governance Experiments
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has called for more small-scale governance experiments or the establishment of innovation sandboxes at the federal level. He believes that putting every reform up for nationwide debate increases the costs of learning and trial-and-error, leading to a slowdown in progress. Armstrong pointed out that competition is the best mechanism for consumer protection, while the government is structurally immune to competition. He suggested trialing faster permitting processes, relaxed regulations, or different rules in specific areas, such as federal land spanning 10 square miles, and measuring the results after implementation to gradually promote successful practices.

The Bitcoin price briefly fell below $81,000 on October 9, 2026, its lowest level in nearly three weeks, after repeated failures near $87,000. A bond selloff, weaker tech stocks, spot ETF outflows and a long liquidation wave all added pressure. The $80,000 area is now the key support, while $83,000 is the first level bulls need to reclaim.
