Genius Group Acquires 10 Bitcoins Worth $854,000
Education company Genius Group has acquired 10 bitcoins worth $854,000, marking its first repurchase since selling its entire bitcoin reserve on April 1 to repay $8.5 million in debt. As of February 2025, Genius Group had accumulated a total of 440 bitcoins, but faced a nearly year-long impact from a New York injunction due to a dispute with LZG International. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit lifted the freeze order on August 31, and CEO Roger James Hamilton views this purchase as a signal for the company to begin accumulating bitcoins again.
