IMF Warns of AI's Impact on Employment and Tax Systems
IMF President Kristalina Georgieva warned that AI is having a disruptive impact on labor markets and tax systems, urging policymakers to rethink education systems and take measures to help society adapt to changes. Speaking at the IMF and World Bank annual meeting in Bangkok, she stated that AI is weakening the demand for certain human workers by replacing a large number of repetitive, procedural jobs, while also driving an increase in low-wage positions in industries such as construction. Georgieva pointed out that this transformation will have profound implications for public finances, as AI may shift the economy from labor to capital, undermining government tax revenues, which have traditionally relied heavily on labor income.

Wormhole (W) Price Jumps Over 60% in a Day: Is It Altcoin Rotation, or Do W 2.0 Tokenomics Finally Matter?
The Wormhole (W) price rose more than 60% in 24 hours on October 11 and 12, 2026, and about 100% over seven days on KuCoin's data. Sources link the move to altcoin rotation, not a new Wormhole event. The MAGIC coin rose more than 20% in 24 hours around October 11, 2026, and roughly doubled over seven days on KuCoin's figures. Treasure, the project behind it, has shifted from Web3 gaming toward AI agents. No clear catalyst has been published, and the token is a small cap, so the move carries unusually high risk.

STRK price briefly broke above $0.12 on October 12, 2026, while PLUME, LUMIA and other Layer 2 tokens also rose. Only STRK has a clear catalyst, and the total crypto market barely moved. The evidence points to a one-token squeeze that lifted its neighbors, not a confirmed sector rotation.

Bitcoin Tests $85K Resistance; STRK Surges | WEEX TradFi Daily Brief (October 12, 2026)
Bitcoin traded near $83,700 and is testing the $84,000–$85,000 cost-cluster zone. In crypto, L2 scaling, ZK modularity, high-performance L1s, gaming and DePIN were relatively active as capital rotated from pure meme trades toward infrastructure narratives. In equities, NVIDIA’s market value is approaching $6 trillion, supported by AI infrastructure demand, while optical modules and fiber names were relatively resilient. Bond markets are closed on October 12 ET for the holiday, while equities trade as normal; the pause in yield pricing may amplify intraday volatility.
