Kraken Co-CEO Criticizes U.S. Crypto Regulation, Calls European MiCA More Mature
Kraken Co-CEO David Ripley stated that Europe takes a more pragmatic approach to crypto regulation, with the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) providing clarity for market rules, while the regulatory environment in the U.S. is more confrontational. Ripley pointed out that the CLARITY Act is progressing slowly, with related work having been ongoing for years. He believes that if the U.S. continues to delay the advancement of crypto regulatory legislation, it may cede the leadership in financial innovation to the European Union. Kraken obtained a MiCA license from the Central Bank of Ireland in June 2025, allowing it to operate in 30 member countries of the European Economic Area.
