Local Ceasefire for Repairing Power Line at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant
On September 5, a local ceasefire began at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant to repair the damaged power line "Ferroalloy-1". The plant has been without external power since August 20 and is relying on diesel generators. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that the ceasefire was reached to restore electricity supply after a prolonged outage. On August 20, the plant lost connection with the only available 330 kV power line due to military activity on the northern bank of the Dnipro River. Under the ceasefire, Ukrainian technicians will begin repairs after the area has been cleared of mines. IAEA representatives will monitor the work. This is the seventh ceasefire agreed upon with the mediation of the IAEA to prevent a nuclear accident. Diesel fuel reserves at the plant are dwindling, and without the restoration of external power supply, the ZNPP could completely lose power within a few days.

The Bitcoin price briefly fell below $81,000 on October 9, 2026, its lowest level in nearly three weeks, after repeated failures near $87,000. A bond selloff, weaker tech stocks, spot ETF outflows and a long liquidation wave all added pressure. The $80,000 area is now the key support, while $83,000 is the first level bulls need to reclaim.
