Polymath and CineCity Explore Tokenized Film Investment Platform
Polymath and CineCity Studios are exploring a platform for financing independent films through regulated digital securities. Announced on October 1, the platform aims to connect independent productions with investors. Polymath will provide the technical infrastructure for issuing digital securities, onboarding investors, and managing compliance, while CineCity will contribute its production industry access. The initiative addresses financing challenges faced by independent films, which often rely on private deals and complex legal structures. The proposed model aims to simplify ownership administration, including tracking ownership, buyer eligibility, and transfer records. However, the tokenization does not inherently reduce risks or increase liquidity, as it still involves legal rights and project economics. The collaboration is in exploratory stages, with no current investment marketplace available. Regulatory structure, product design, and project selection are still under development.
