SignSplit's Strategic Seed Funding Values Startup at $1 Billion
A startup aiming to make people get paid for their data used by artificial intelligence has just raised $400 million. SignSplit PBC emerged from stealth mode on October 5, 2026, announcing its strategic seed funding that brings the company's valuation to $1 billion.
The deal was closed with W Group as the strategic investor. The funds will be used to build what the company calls the "signed-data economy," an infrastructure designed to allow individuals and institutions to license --- and get paid for --- their data, work, and image, as AI systems increasingly rely on content generated by real human beings.
Key Points
- SignSplit has closed a strategic seed round of $400 million with a valuation of $1 billion.
- The investor is W Group, a fintech ecosystem active in 150 countries with over 40 million users.
- The concept of "signed data" ties consent, provenance, and terms of use to content generated by people.
- Founded in 2024, SignSplit targets AI and robotics companies, research centers, and digital platforms as clients.
SignSplit's Strategic Seed Funding and $1 Billion Valuation
SignSplit's strategic seed funding is not just capital: according to a statement released via PR Newswire, the deal also includes a multi-year package of strategic resources designed to support the company's global expansion. The amount raised values the company at $1 billion and marks SignSplit's formal exit from stealth mode.
The strategic partner in the deal is W Group, described in the statement as a global fintech and technology ecosystem serving over 40 million users in 150 countries. According to the description provided by the company itself, the group brings together 11 businesses and more than 1,500 team members spread across 15 locations worldwide.
What "Signed Data" Means for AI and Robotics
The central concept of the signed data platform is "signed data": content, work, or image accompanied by clear consent, verifiable provenance, and defined terms of use. The idea stems from a trend that the company itself identifies, namely that future AI models, robotic systems, and research tools will increasingly depend on real human knowledge, creativity, and experience in fields such as healthcare, science, and entertainment.
Through the platform, contributors can license their data, skills, or image and receive compensation, while AI and robotics companies, researchers, and other organizations access data pools built for their specific needs. SignSplit has also created a verification layer designed to allow AI systems, social platforms, and other digital services to recognize signed content and retrieve its provenance, consent terms, and usage rights.
"SignSplit offers solutions for a world where the boundary between human experience and technology becomes increasingly fluid," said Alessandro Monterosso, Co-Founder and CEO of SignSplit. "As AI extends further into the real world, human knowledge, creativity, skills, and identity will become increasingly connected to how technology evolves and interacts with the world around us."

W Group's Strategic Bet on the Data Economy
According to the framing provided by the company itself regarding the deal, W Group's commitment reflects the belief that the infrastructure based on signed data will become a standard across the AI industry. Volodymyr Nosov, Founder and President of W Group, stated in the release: "We believe that every serious participant in AI and the data economy will eventually rely on SignSplit's infrastructure. The scope of our commitment reflects both how we believe we are still at the beginning and how important we think these solutions are for every sector that depends on human data."
The Founding Team and Company Structure
SignSplit was founded in 2024 and is structured as a Delaware Public Benefit Corporation. Glib Denisov, Co-Founder, Executive Chairman, and Chief Product Officer, explained that the team built the company by looking at where AI would head, not where it was at the time. "We had seen that the next generation of AI would need more than just additional data: it would require higher quality real-world data, with provenance, permissions, and rights clearly attributed," Denisov said.
Alessandro Monterosso serves as Co-Founder and CEO of the company.
