SPB Exchange to Launch Cryptocurrency Trading by the End of 2026
SPB Exchange plans to start cryptocurrency trading by the end of 2026, allowing Russian investors to trade digital assets through a regulated infrastructure. Currently, the exchange is forming its own settlement digital depository for the accounting and operations with digital assets, which must undergo registration procedures with the Bank of Russia. The final list of cryptocurrencies for trading has not yet been approved, but organized trading of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and the stablecoin USDT is possible. For ordinary Russians, access to cryptocurrencies will be limited to a cap of 300,000 rubles per year, with mandatory testing before purchase. Qualified investors will be able to trade without restrictions. The Moscow Exchange is also preparing to launch cryptocurrency trading starting December 1, without creating its own depository, but using the infrastructure of partners. The regulated market began to form on September 1, 2026, when the law on the legalization of cryptocurrency trading came into force. The Bank of Russia started allowing the first digital depositories and crypto exchanges to operate from October 6.
