On October 9, Bitfinex stated that Bitcoin typically moves to exchanges before being sold, but during the drop from $87,000, Bitcoin that had been held for more than six months saw almost no transfers to exchanges. Data shows that the Bitcoin recently flowing into exchanges has almost all been tokens that were transferred only in the past week. Bitfinex pointed out that true market capitulation usually requires long-term holders to start transferring and selling their holdings, but there are currently no signs of this occurring.
