Median Salary for AI Jobs Reaches 177,000 USD, More Than Double Non-AI Roles
The median salary for artificial intelligence (AI) related jobs has reached 177,000 USD, significantly exceeding the 80,000 USD of non-AI roles. According to research from LinkedIn, the number of job postings related to AI has nearly doubled over the past three years, indicating a surge in demand for talent. As the demand for AI professionals increases, companies are forming a 'scarcity premium,' and experts in the AI field are earning higher salaries than their non-AI counterparts. According to Robert Half's 2027 Salary Guide, 72% of managers are raising salaries for AI-related skills, and 42% are offering more compensation for AI expertise. There is also a significant wage gap within AI roles, with the median salary for AI managers at 236,000 USD, AI engineers at 166,000 USD, and forward-deployed engineers at 199,000 USD. The Gen Z generation accounts for more than two-thirds of new AI engineer hires, but access to AI job opportunities is uneven. High-paying positions in the AI field are concentrated among men, with women making up only 26% of new AI hires. As the competition for AI talent intensifies, companies are changing their compensation strategies, with the median base salary for AI engineers rising from 160,000 USD to 200,000 USD.

A bond selloff, weaker tech stocks, spot ETF outflows and a long liquidation wave all added pressure. The $80,000 area is now the key support, while $83,000 is the first level bulls need to reclaim.
