Shorooq and Presight Invest in $100 Million Maven Robotics Round
- Shorooq and Presight, part of the G42 group, have invested in the American industrial robotics company Maven Robotics in a Series A round worth $100 million, through funds managed by Shorooq, with participation from RoboStrategy, LocalGlobe, Vine Ventures, and XTX Ventures. The individual investment amounts from Shorooq and Presight have not been disclosed.
- Founded in 2024 by Hamza Darbas, Maven is based in Santa Clara, California, and develops autonomous industrial robots for use in logistics and manufacturing sectors, starting with tasks such as sorting various boxes on shipping platforms and handling containers.
- Maven will use the funding to expand the production of its third-generation robots and develop the fourth generation, while also expanding the use of its technologies from sorting goods on shipping platforms to a wider range of material handling operations.
- The investment aligns with Shorooq and Presight's focus on supporting AI and deep tech companies that employ AI in physical and industrial operations, linking them to the AI and computing ecosystem and businesses in the UAE.
Press Release:
Shorooq and Presight Invest in Maven Robotics in a $100 Million Series A Funding Round, Positioning Gulf Capital at the Forefront of Physical AI
The investment, made through the Presight - Shorooq AI Fund and Bidaya, supports one of the most promising companies in building industrial robots, as it expands its deployment of autonomous systems in real-world operations.
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates --- September 28, 2026 --- Shorooq, a leading multi-strategy regional investment firm, and Presight (listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange under the symbol: PRESIGHT), a global leader in applied AI for smart systems and a G42 company, announced their investment in Maven Robotics, an intelligent industrial robotics company working on building the first multi-purpose robotics system. The investment was made through the Presight - Shorooq AI Fund and Bidaya, managed by Shorooq, alongside RoboStrategy, LocalGlobe, Vine Ventures, and XTX Ventures.
Founded in 2024 and based in Santa Clara, California, Maven designs, builds, and deploys intelligent robots to serve the logistics and manufacturing sectors. The company began its operations with mixed parcel sorting and container handling, which represent a market estimated at around $80 billion. Maven's robots are already operating up to sixteen hours a day at customer sites with a reliability exceeding 99 percent. The company plans to build 250 units of its third-generation machines as it expands into the multi-billion dollar warehouse automation market.
Maven embodies the type of companies that Shorooq was created to support: a founder addressing a tangible real-world problem on a global scale, where applied intelligence transforms automation from a research model into an effective operational infrastructure. This vision --- supporting companies that move AI from the screen to the physical world --- is what attracted Shorooq to this deal.
Bilal Balouch, a partner at Shorooq, said, "The first wave of AI reshaped the way we handle information; the next wave will reshape the way the physical economy operates, and that’s a much bigger win." He added, "What distinguishes Maven is that Hamza and his team are not pursuing a research standard --- they are solving one industrial problem after another, with the discipline and focus on the ROI demanded by real operators. Supporting a company like this, from Abu Dhabi to Silicon Valley, is precisely what it means to invest at the forefront from the region to the world."
The investment also reflects a thoughtful pairing of capital and capabilities. While Shorooq provides its investment discipline and track record in building companies, Presight contributes its deep expertise in applied intelligence and access to one of the world’s most important AI and computing ecosystems through G42 --- a feature designed to help portfolio companies grow faster than capital alone would allow.
For Presight, the investment reflects its focus on applying intelligence to tackle complex operational challenges. Thomas Bramathedam, CEO of Presight, said, "AI creates value when it works reliably in the environments where companies operate." He added, "Maven applies intelligence to the physical work of moving and handling goods, where performance is measured by operational outcomes. Through the Presight - Shorooq AI Fund, we aim to support companies like Maven with capital, applied AI expertise, and relationships that can help them scale. This investment reflects our belief that the value of intelligence is realized through its application."
Maven's approach has enabled the company to win business against competitors whose robots have been in the market for a long time, and its founding team includes a select group of experienced professionals in AI, robotics, engineering, and autonomous systems --- among the few who have managed to solve the data path problem that allows the hardware to learn from real-world operation. The new capital will fund the completion of the third-generation fleet and the design of a fourth generation, as the company transitions from sorting operations to broader material handling.
For Maven's founder, this support brings partners who understand both the technology and the region's ambition to lead in it. Hamza Darbas, CEO and co-founder of Maven Robotics, said, "We are not in a race to build the biggest model --- we are in a race to solve the industrial labor problem and make this work possible at the scale the world needs." He added, "Shorooq and Presight understood that from the very first conversation. Along with capital, they provide an integrated ecosystem --- from computing power and data to relationships with major companies --- that helps us deploy faster and reach customers we might not have reached on our own. We see the region as a launchpad from which we can take our robots to the world."
This investment adds to a growing portfolio of pioneering technology companies supported by Shorooq, which invests in leading AI and deep tech companies in their categories around the world, linking them with networks of capital, computing power, and major companies within the AI ecosystem in the UAE.
