Stand With Crypto Endorses Candidates Ahead of Midterms After Clarity Act Failure
Stand With Crypto, a group launched by Coinbase in 2023, announced bipartisan endorsements for Senate and House candidates ahead of the November midterms, following the collapse of the Clarity Act in the Senate. The group's Senate endorsements include Republican Jon Husted in Ohio, who is challenging Democrat Sherrod Brown, and Republican Ashley Hinson in Iowa, along with Democrat Chris Pappas in New Hampshire against former GOP Senator John Sununu. The group emphasizes candidate selection based on crypto policy positions, regardless of party affiliation. In the House, endorsements include Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks from Iowa and Democrat Shomari Figures from Alabama, with plans to increase advertising in six House campaigns. This follows a previous endorsement of 32 House incumbents in August. The timing is significant after the Senate's 49-50 vote against the Clarity Act, which was seen as a setback for crypto advocates. Stand With Crypto has warned that lawmakers' votes will be tracked and judged by voters. Executive Director Mason Lynaugh stated that the group's over three million advocates are focused on electing pro-crypto candidates. While Stand With Crypto does not make direct campaign contributions, it influences voter mobilization and candidate grading through its Voter Hub. Candidates rated highly often receive funding from aligned PACs, with crypto political spending nearing 200 million dollars for the 2026 cycle. The endorsement of Husted highlights the importance of the Ohio race in shaping the Senate Banking Committee's stance on crypto.

The Bitcoin price briefly fell below $81,000 on October 9, 2026, its lowest level in nearly three weeks, after repeated failures near $87,000. A bond selloff, weaker tech stocks, spot ETF outflows and a long liquidation wave all added pressure. The $80,000 area is now the key support, while $83,000 is the first level bulls need to reclaim.
