Ripple Announces Plan to Fund Payment Financing Using XRP as Collateral
Ripple is launching a business to fund customer payment financing using XRP as collateral. Monica Long, CEO of Ripple, announced this plan at the 'XRP Seoul 2026' event held on the 3rd at the Grand Hyatt Seoul in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Long stated that they are conducting a credit-related pilot aimed at activation next year and will use XRP as collateral to fund payment financing. Ripple also introduced plans to enhance the technology of XRPL, including the implementation of zero-knowledge proof-based confidential transfer features and infrastructure for AI agents. The event also announced the launch of XRP Asia, with plans to promote developer education and hackathons aimed at expanding the XRPL ecosystem in the Asia-Pacific region. Domestic financial companies discussed ways to integrate blockchain and digital assets into existing financial infrastructure, with Kakao Bank revealing plans to integrate basic digital asset services into its core banking system starting in 2027. The event was attended by over 5,000 people and was hosted by XRPL Korea, with Ripple participating as the title sponsor.
