Tangem Reports Data Breach of Customer Personal Information
Tangem, a manufacturer of hardware cryptocurrency wallets, announced unauthorized access to a system processing user requests. As a result of the breach, names and email addresses of some customers may have been exposed. The company did not specify the number of affected users or the volume of data that fell into the hands of the attackers. Tangem emphasized that wallets and crypto assets were not compromised. Device owners do not need to take additional actions to protect their wallets; however, the company warned about the risk of phishing attacks, as attackers may use the stolen data to send emails posing as customer support. The incident occurred against the backdrop of issues at Ledger, which acknowledged the theft of 80 bitcoins worth $6,600,000 from a wallet sold through the reseller CryptoBilis. Blockchain analyst Specter reported the theft of cryptocurrency from hundreds of Ledger wallet owners totaling $86,000,000, while Bitquery specialists estimated potential damages at $92,900,000, affecting 311 wallets across five blockchains.
