Ukrainian Antimonopoly Committee Fines Dietary Supplement Manufacturer 304,595 UAH
The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine has fined LLC "Klyuchi Zdorov'ya" 304,595 UAH for spreading misleading information about the dietary supplement "Alteika Pharm." The committee initiated the case following a complaint from an individual. The manufacturer claimed on the packaging that the supplement alleviates cough and has expectorant properties, but did not provide studies to support these claims. The Ministry of Health also noted that the label "cough syrup" could mislead consumers into thinking that the product is a medicinal drug. A consumer survey indicated that such information could influence purchasing decisions. The Antimonopoly Committee recognized the company's actions as a violation of Article 15-1 of the Law of Ukraine "On Protection Against Unfair Competition" and imposed a fine. "Klyuchi Zdorov'ya" reported that it has ceased the dissemination of the disputed information and has started selling "Alteika Pharm" in updated packaging.
