Absa Launches Crypto Custody for Businesses in Africa
Absa is the first bank in Africa to offer crypto custody services for business and professional clients. The South African bank is collaborating with Ripple for the technology behind this new service. Absa safeguards the digital keys that grant clients access to their crypto holdings. The bank emphasizes that its system is designed so that a single mistake does not immediately grant access to the holdings and that access can be restored in the event of a system failure. This move brings the trusted protection of a regulated bank to the crypto market. The service is not intended for individuals but targets companies and large investors looking to securely store digital assets. The specific cryptocurrencies supported from the start have not yet been disclosed. Ripple provides the software for managing digital keys and transactions, but there is no automatic involvement of the cryptocurrency XRP in this service.
