BlackRock Increases Focus on Short-Term Government Bonds, Possible Impact on Crypto
BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, is shifting its focus to short-term U.S. government bonds and becoming more cautious with equities. This is because investors can currently obtain attractive interest rates of around 5.25 percent without the volatility of bitcoin. BlackRock has downgraded its outlook on U.S. stocks to neutral to limit short-term risks. For the crypto market, the high interest rate means that investors are less inclined to take risks, which could dampen demand for bitcoin and smaller cryptocurrencies. The more neutral stance on U.S. stocks also indicates greater caution, which may lead to less inflow of new capital into the crypto market. On the other hand, BlackRock believes that markets have priced in too many interest rate hikes. If interest rate expectations decline, this could improve conditions for risky investments. The U.S. inflation figures on October 14 and producer prices on October 15 could influence interest rate expectations and sentiment around crypto.
