OpenAI and Anthropic Executives Report to the Security Council on AI Risks
Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, and Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, will report to the United Nations Security Council. This meeting will take place on Wednesday and will focus on the dangers of artificial intelligence and its implications for international security. The United Nations has confirmed the participation of Altman and Amodei. Clement Delangue, CEO of Hugging Face, and Yoshua Bengio, co-chair of the United Nations' independent scientific advisory board on artificial intelligence, will also be present at this meeting. The Security Council will address growing concerns about the impact of artificial intelligence on international security. Chinese companies DeepMind and Moonshot have also been invited to present statements at this meeting. DeepMind is expected to participate, although its founder, Liang Wenfeng, has no plans to attend. This is the first time in 2023 that the Security Council will officially discuss the security implications of artificial intelligence. France is hosting this meeting amid increasing concerns about AI systems and the potential loss of human control over them.
