Trump Invites US Tech and Finance Leaders to State Dinner for Xi Jinping
On the 24th, President Donald Trump hosted a state dinner at the White House for Chinese President Xi Jinping. The dinner was attended by prominent figures from the US tech industry, including NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Apple board chair Tim Cook, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai. From the finance sector, guests included JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, Citigroup CEO Jane Fraser, Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon, Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman, and Mastercard CEO Michael Miebach. President Trump emphasized that there were many requests to attend, including individuals from the tech and banking sectors. There were 19 attendees from the Chinese side, and no business leaders were included. The dinner took place amid escalating AI competition between the US and China, and both countries agreed to continue discussions on AI and trade issues. The US-China trade truce has been extended until January 10 of next year.
